JAKARTA |LINTASTIMOR.ID)–
On the calm evening of Sunday, August 24, 2025, the deck of Japan’s warship JS Osumi, moored at Tanjung Priok Harbor, became a stage of diplomacy and camaraderie. Indonesia’s TNI Commander, General Agus Subiyanto, stood side by side with Japan’s Chief of Joint Staff, General Hiroaki Uchikura, and U.S. Indo-Pacific Command (USINDOPACOM) Commander, Admiral Samuel J. Paparo—an encounter that symbolized the strength of alliances forged in trust and shared responsibility.
Before the reception began, General Agus Subiyanto paid a courtesy call to General Uchikura, offering congratulations on his recent appointment as Chief of the Joint Staff of the Japan Self-Defense Forces (JSDF), succeeding General Yoshide.
“I am confident that under General Uchikura’s leadership, the JSDF will advance with even greater professionalism and excellence,” General Agus affirmed with warmth and respect.
The two commanders explored pathways to deepen cooperation between TNI and JSDF, particularly in humanitarian assistance, disaster relief, and other strategic joint exercises designed not only to sharpen operational readiness but also to strengthen bilateral ties.
On the same occasion, General Agus also held a courtesy call with Admiral Samuel J. Paparo, the USINDOPACOM Commander. Their dialogue reaffirmed Indonesia’s appreciation for the enduring military cooperation with the United States.
“Joint exercises with our partners are invaluable. They enrich our soldiers, both in individual skills and in the collective strength of our units, preparing us for the defense challenges of the future,” General Agus emphasized.
As the evening progressed aboard the JS Osumi, the gathering became more than a ceremonial reception. It was a declaration that in a region shaped by shifting tides, the solidarity of nations through joint training and shared commitment remains the true anchor of security and peace.
