Di bawah senja yang merunduk pada Senin (1/9/2025), Kapolres Timor Tengah Selatan (TTS) AKBP Hendra Dorizen, SH, SIK, MH, bersama Dandim 1621 TTS Letkol Inf Gunawan Budi Prasetyo, S.Sos, menerima massa aksi damai Cipayung yang menyalakan seribu lilin di gerbang utama Mapolres TTS.
“Mahasiswa adalah sahabat TNI/Polri. Jika mereka menyampaikan aspirasi dengan santun, maka wajib bagi kami menerima dengan senyum dan keramahan. Tugas kami bukan bersikap arogan, tetapi menjadi benteng rakyat yang humanis,” ujar Kapolres Dorizen dengan nada sejuk.
Ia menegaskan, niat baik mahasiswa mesti disambut dengan sikap yang sama. “Jika dihadapi dengan kekerasan, maka konflik pasti terjadi. Karena itu, saya dan Pak Dandim hadir bersama adik-adik, menyalakan lilin mengenang gejolak bangsa, sekaligus mendoakan negeri ini agar segera pulih,” imbuhnya.
Sementara itu, Dandim 1621 TTS Letkol Inf Gunawan Budi Prasetyo mengaku terharu. “Saya menyampaikan terima kasih tulus atas penyampaian aspirasi yang damai dan sopan. Semoga dengan cahaya lilin ini, hati kita semua tercerahkan, dan negeri kita kembali tenteram,” tuturnya.
Pantauan media, usai doa dan penyalaan lilin di Mapolres TTS, massa aksi yang tergabung dalam GMKI, GMNI, dan PMKRI itu melanjutkan perjalanan ke Kantor DPRD TTS. Kapolres dan Dandim ikut mendampingi, bahkan turut menyalakan lilin di kedua titik tersebut—membiarkan cahaya kecil menjadi simbol besar persaudaraan.
Sebagai peneguh jiwa, firman Tuhan berkata:
“Bangsa yang berjalan di dalam kegelapan telah melihat terang yang besar; mereka yang diam di negeri kekelaman, atasnya terang telah bersinar.”

With Humanity and Grace, TTS Police Chief & Military Commander Welcome Cipayung’s Thousand Candles Peace Rally
SoE | LINTASTIMOR ID]– A smile can bridge every difference. On Monday evening (September 1, 2025), TTS Police Chief AKBP Hendra Dorizen, SH, SIK, MH, together with Military Commander 1621 TTS Lt. Col. Inf. Gunawan Budi Prasetyo, S.Sos, welcomed Cipayung youth activists who lit a thousand candles at the main gate of TTS Police Headquarters.
“Students are our friends. When they voice their aspirations with respect, it is our duty as TNI/Polri to respond with kindness, not arrogance. Our role is to protect society humanely,” said Chief Dorizen softly.
He stressed that good intentions must be met with good will. “If confronted with violence, conflict will surely erupt. That is why we chose to stand together with the students, lighting candles to remember the nation’s struggles and to pray for peace,” he added.
Meanwhile, Military Commander Lt. Col. Gunawan Budi Prasetyo admitted he was deeply moved. “I sincerely thank the students for voicing their concerns in such a peaceful manner. May these candles bring light to our hearts and restore peace to our nation,” he expressed.
As observed, after the candlelight vigil at the Police Headquarters, the students continued to the TTS Parliament building. Both the Police Chief and the Military Commander accompanied them, joining in lighting the candles—a small flame carrying the weight of unity.
